How could I not be grateful
To be blessed with freedom's choices?
My mind is overwhelmed
With patriotic voices.
My heart is full to bursting
With joy that this is mine.
A land of opportunity
Where each can do just fine.
In a history of America
With all her zest and glory
Each chapter speaks to freedom
And soldiers wrote the story.
Memorial Day is every day
We pay tribute to our dead.
We have honored them with action
And with everything we've said.
But vigilance is needed,
There is no guarantee.
The torch is ours to carry.
Forever to be free.
